Worst SNL In 10 Years

This week's episode of SNL is just freaking awful. The opening sketch wasn't even remotely funny. Gabourey Sidibe was the host and she suuuuucked. 1st time I've switched off SNL in 10 years. Fortunately, HBO is airing the premier of "You Don't Know Jack". Al Pacino has received rave reviews for his portrayal of Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

Thanks Dr. Death, I was about to slash my wrist if I had to watch anymore of that SNL episode.

Havent caught that one yet- guessed correctly that it was going to be a stinker. I, on the other hand had only recently came back to SNL. Some of the more recent shows are among the best ever.
One of the few real goals I have in life that the world hasnt beaten out of me and I'm sure I'll accomplish before I die- If I have to walk there and sell my body along the way- I will be in the live audience before they lower my worn out corpus into the ground.

I'd love to be in the SNL audience, but with my luck it would be for the dress rehearsal or for the 2nd time Gabourey Sidibe hosts.

I'd also like to see David Letterman.

I agree, SNL SUCKED beyond belief with that woman hosting.

I dunno, guys, I think you're being somewhat charitable toward SNL.

Didn't see this week's show, but I can't see that the overall quality of the program is that high these days. I personally think Lorne doesn't really care that much about the show's creativity - only how to milk a few more sheckels out of his latest Broadway Video rehash.

Without being all totally 'Grumpy Old Man' and saying only the Aykroyd/Chase/Belushi/Curtin/Radner/Murray/Morris cast mattered - I mean, that would be stupid, but whereas many of the earlier casts really honed their craft on the show, it seems (to me anyway) that now it's just a ticket-punch, stepping stone, to a TV or movie deal.

I absolutely would give props to Murphy, Carvey, Myers, Sandler, Short, and Farley for their post-SNL careers. Honorable mention to Norm McDonald, Chris Rock, and David Spade. Hartman - awesome talent, truly was the 'glue' holding the show together for several seasons (plus, I have the Poco and America LPs with his artwork), much as Darrell Hammond did recently. I didn't much care for Piscopo, and am not so enthralled with Ferrell, either. I believe Jon Lovitz is underrated. Thought Tina & Amy were one of the best lineups on Update, but today would rather watch Amy's show than Tina's.

Anyway, the current crop of shows seems more programmed by NBC's marketing data about how to capture a certain demo than creating interesting, funny, entertainment.
