Thanks, RPM! I read your blog every time I see a new post, so I guess I am a faithful South 40 reader, and have been for years. So much in fact, that I remember you posting about working at the Bridgeport Brookshire's a long while back. Although I live in Gawd's Country, I have recently found myself visiting Brigeport daily since my 91-year old father elected to have quadruple bypass surgery at WRHS and has found himself staying at Stagecoach Rehab just down the road from that lovely grocery store. I'm eating some tasty fresh salmon from there right now, and got a great deal (buy one pack of chicken tenders and get one for a penny with a "Thank You" card). I can't wait to try their "Make Your Own Six Pack of Beers for $9.99"!

Hey thanks for responding! It's always good to hear from the South 40 Nation. One minor thing I feel a need to correct you on is I never worked for Brookshire's. I worked for Gary Shelton's (please, a man's gotta eat) IGA/Marketplace/SackN'Save chain in Wise/Jack/Cooke/Denton Counties that sold out to Lowe's Market after I left. I agree Brookshire's is a fabulous place to shop, I could only fight for change so much from within before getting bumped to the outskirts (a/k/a Chico) which only made things easier on me.

It was a win/win for everyone when Shelton sold out. I do miss working with nearly everyone else there. Tommy Sims was easily the best Supervisor I ever worked under. Anyone that ever worked with him will tell you the same thing.

If you want a huge upgrade on your dining in Bridgeport, take 380 West past Brookshire's, through the intersection, under the railroad bridge and look on the right. Pronto's Italian Restaurant doesn't look like the best Italian food in a 500 mile range but it most definitely is. They also deliver so you could send your Dad a treat, although that might not be the most wise (but unquestionably tastiest) choice post bypass.

Apparently there are a few bugs in this new format. Sorry for the double post.
