As a Chevy Chase fan (favorite CC movies, roughly in order of preference: Seems Like Old Times, Fletch,¡Three Amigos!, Foul Play, Spies Like Us, Caddyshack, Vacation[s]), I should be pre-disposed to like Community, but I just don't 'get it'.
Last night I caught what must have been a syndicated rerun, as I think it was on a UHF channel. Kumar and the black dude did a riff about people not understanding satire/being punked, Chevy was going to write a tune for the brunette, and the pretty blonde chick was facing expulsion from the Greendale (BTW, I saw Neil Young's rock opera of the same name @ Smirnoff many years ago) for cheating. I forget what the heavy black chick's bit was in the plot.
In any event, despite not having any major distractions going on at the time, I didn't find anything particularly compelling to engage my attention (it was probably the most complete episode I've 'watched').
Maybe I'll try a few episodes once it lands on Yahoo.
LOL, first off it's Abed... Chevy was great on the show. Pierce Hawthorne is one of my favorite characters. My favorite episode is where he and Jeff go to the Barber Shop. "Shaving yourself is for suckers." Great line.
The problem was he was still Chevy off camera. He and Dan Harmon appear to have mended fences and Chevy will appear (briefly) in Season 6.
