I didn't watch the AW, but had the TV on in the other room, so I didn't know who was singing the SOM medley. Had I know, I probably would've had a negative bias, but listening from the other room, I was thinking, "Wow, she's really killing it." Not until the announcer presented JA did I go to look at the TV, and then heard her congratulate LG.
Count me as surprised and impressed.
Ya know the very first time I ever heard her sing was on SNL. I said then she was extremely talented, but needed to lose the "attention act". To be honest, I guess being an extremely talented singer just isn't enough to hit the big time nowadays.
You should check out the album she did with Tony Bennett, "Cheek to Cheek". Really good stuff.
