The two ton anchor from the Grandcamp was hurled 1.62 miles.

The Grandcamp explosion has fascinated me since I was a boy. There were actually 2 anchors- the heavier one at I believe 5 tons 'only' traveled 1/2 mile.

It is still used as a case study in how explosions work. People as close as 70 feet away survived unscathed while people in Galveston 10 miles away were driven to the ground from the force.
